Homemade sathu mavu is very good for health because it contains all nutrients and minerals. It is handy for all woman. We can make variety of dishes using this mix. It is good for growing children as well as aged people. I made this sathu mavu last summer itself. But i forgot to post.
Now let us see how to make Sathu Mavu Recipe / Sprouted Sathu Mavu
Preparation Time - 2 days
Cooking time - 30 minutes
Yield - 2 kgs
Ingredients:
Ragi(finger millet) - ½ kg
Kambu(pearl millet) - ½ kg
White cholam(sorghum) - 200 gms
Pachai Payaru(green gram) -1/4 kg
Wheat - ¼ kg
Red rice - 50 gms
Pottu kadalai(roasted Gram) - 100 gms
Thinai(foxtail millet) - 100 gms
Kollu(Horse gram) - 50 gms
Sago - 50 gms
Almond - 50 gms
Cashew - 25 gms
Cardamom - 10
Sukku(dry ginger) - 1 inch
Method:
Wash ragi , kambu, green gram and wheat twice in water. Soak ragi, kambu and green gram for 6 hours in water separately. Soak wheat for two hours. Strain all from water and put it in the separate cloth . Tie all the cloth tightly. After 12 hours little sprouts comes out from the soaked grains. Open the cloth and dry it in the shade.
After drying completely dry roast in a pan slightly (till the moisture evaporates).
Dry roast Cholam till it gets puffed up.
Dry roast thinai, kollu till nice aroma comes. Dry roast sago till it gets puffed up.
Dry roast other ingredients also. Allow it to cool and grind it in the mill.
After grinding spread the mavu in the paper or plate. Store in the air tight container and use it for three months to five months.
Note:
You can make ladoo, dosa , Kozhukattai,Porridge, puttu etc with this sathu mavu.
It is good for babies also.
