Garlic rice is an easy recipe. It is good for lunch box menu. It is same as coconut rice but little variation in it. You can adjust ingredients according to your taste.
Garlic Rice Ingredients:
Cooked rice - 2 cup
Garlic - 8 -10 flakes
Red chilli - 7
Coconut - 4 tblsp
Salt - to taste
To tempering
Oil - 2 tblsp
Mustard - ½ tsp
Urad dal - ¼ tsp
Asafoetida - ¼ tsp
Garlic Rice Method:
Cook rice and keep aside. Heat ¼ tsp oil and saute garlic for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes add red chilli and saute for a few seconds. Fry coconut in the same pan (don’t add oil) with the remaining oil.
Remove and keep aside for cooling.Grind garlic, red chilli, coconut and salt in a mixie coarsely.
Heat oil in the frying pan and add mustard, urad dal and asafoetida.
When they crackle add to the rice. Then add the ground garlic mixture and mix it well.
Serve with Elai vadam or killu vadam or chips.
Note:
Add garlic and red chilli according to your taste.
If you want you can add cashew and Bengal gram while tempering.
