TomatoPachadi is a dish which is both suitable for the Tiffin as
side dish and as side dish for rice. If the dal is more then it is suitable
for Tiffin, if the dal is less then it is suitable for rice as side dish.
TomatoPachadi is a very good side dish for meals in the
afternoons. It tastes sour and nice. TomatoPachadi
has a unique taste slightly similar to Tomato Sambar.
Tomato Pachadi Ingredients:
Tomato - 3 medium
Tuvar dal - ¼ cup
Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
Green chilli - 8
Onion - 1
Coriander - 3 tblsp
Salt - to taste
To Temper:
Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard - ¼ tsp
Urad dal - ¼ tsp
Cumin seed - ¼ tsp
Tomato Pachadi Method:
Half cook tuvar dal with turmeric powder. Chop Tomato into small cubes. Slit green chillies. Peel onion and cut.
Heat oil in a frying pan and add tempering items one by one. Then add onion and green chillies and sauté for a few minutes. Add chopped tomato and sauté for five to six minutes.
Add sauted tomato to the cooked dal. Add salt and cook till done. Finally add chopped coriander. Serve hot with rice.
