Garlic is a good herb. It prevent us from many health problems such as gas trouble, Skin infection, blood pressure, cholesterol and so on. If you have any skin infection, crush the garlic clove and apply the juice in the affected area. So we can make garlic chutney once in a week and get the benefit of garlic.
We can use garlic chutney as a side dish of idli, dosa, phulka or roti. It is used as a bread spread also.
Now let us see how to make garlic chutney
Preparation time - 15 minutes
Cooking time - 10 minutes
Serves - 3
Garlic Chutney Ingredients:
Garlic cloves - ½ cup heaped
Red chilli - 6
Tamarind - small marble size
Asafoetida - 2 pinch
Salt - to taste
Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard - ¼ tsp
Urad dhal - ¼ tsp
Garlic Chutney Method:
Peel the garlic. Heat oil a pan and add mustard and urad dhal.
When it crackle add asafetida, red chilli, garlic, tamarind and salt and sauté for about 3 minutes.
Keep aside for cooling. Then grind it in the mixer and serve with idli or dosa. I served with mini uthappam.
Note:
Add red chilli according to your taste.
If you want you can add the tempering with mustard at last.
