Puliodharai or Temple Puliodharai
Whenever I go to temple I use to buy puliodharai. I liked it very much. It is a good one pot meal. It is apt for picnics. The best combination of puliodharai is potato chips,javvarisi vadam and killu vadam.


Puliodharai

Puliodharai Ingredients:
Cooked rice - 3 cup
Tamarind         - lemon size
Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
Salt         - to taste
To grind:
Coriander        - 1 tblsp
Channa dal - 1 tblsp
Sesame seed (white) - 1 tblsp
Red chilli         - 2
Fenugreek - ½ tsp
To temper:
Gingelly oil - 3 tblsp
Mustard       - 1 tsp
Urad dal        - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Peanut - 1 tblsp
Redchilli          - 3
Asafoetida - ½ tsp
Curry leaves - few
Puliodharai Method:
  Roast the item under “to grind” in little oil and grind it in a mixie coarsely. Soak tamarind and extract the juice.

Heat gingelly oil in a pan and add all the item under “to temper”.  When they crackle add tamarind juice, turmeric powder and salt.

 Cook till the oil oozes out. Finally add ground powder and mix it well.

Cook the rice and spread it in the broad bowl. Add pulikaichal little by little to the rice and mix it with a fork.

Check the taste and add pulikaichal.

Note:
Don’t pour the pulikaichal full. You can add little by little and check the taste and add.
If you want you can add cashew nuts also.
You can add black sesame seeds also.
