Paruppu masiyal (Chettinad)
Paruppu Masiyal is an urgent recipe, which can be made in minutes, in pressure cooker and can serve the purpose. Paruppu Masiyal goes well with Hot Rice and Ghee. In some families it is mixed with ghee while preparation itself.

Masiyal is good for kids and it is nutritious for all.
Now let us see hoe to make Paruppu Masiyal
Paruppu masiyal Ingredients:
Pasiparuppu(green gram dhal) - 1/4 cup
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Jeeragam(cumin) - 1/4 tsp
Red chilli - 2
Garlic cloves - 3
Curry leaves - few
Salt - to taste
Paruppu masiyal Method:
Break the red chillies. Crush the garlic (don't peel) in the pestle and mortar.
Cook pasiparuppu, red chilli, turmeric powder, jeeragam, garlic, curry leaves and 1 1/4 cup of water in the pressure cooker for 2 sounds. When the steam subsides open the cooker and add salt and mash it well. Boil for few minutes and serve hot with ghee and rice.
Note:
In the same mehod you can prepare tuvar dal masiyal. Finally you can season with mustard and curry leaf.
If you want the quantity more you can Multiply the ingredients.
If you want the paruppu more watery you can add hot water and mix well.
