Omapodi is a common snack or savory in Tamil Nadu and is common in all South Indian Homes. The Omapodi is famous in some sweet shops. May be Omapodi is the maximum selling snack of Tamil Nadu.
The
inclusion of Bishops weed or Omum in this recipe makes it unique and also has
the Medicinal values of this herb. It is good for gas trouble and indigestion. This
will not disturb the stomach as it cools the stomach.
Omapodi is
easy to make and can be stored for about a month or two. This will serve as a
ideal snack for the kids and evening snack along with Tea or Coffee.

Omapodi Ingredients:
Kadalai Maavu (Basen Flour) - 2 cup
Omam (ajwain) – 2 tsp
Salt – to taste
Oil – 2 tblsp
Oil - for deep frying
Omapodi Method:
Soak Omam for 4-6 hours. Grind it in the Mixie. Extract the omam water through a strainer.
Mix all the ingredients and add omam water little by little and knead the flour into a smooth dough (Don't heat the oil).
Put the flour inside the Om Podi maker. Heat oil in a frying pan and press it in hot oil.
Cook both the sides well till done and take it out.
Note:
Break the omapodi and store it in the air tight container for about a week or two.
