Mothagam or Modhak is a traditional recipe which is often prepared in Ganesha Temples for Vinayagar Chathurthi or some special occasion. It is also prepared in Tamil Homes and offered to Lord Ganesha. In Karpaga Vinayagar Temple Pillayarpati Giant size Mothagam is specially made in temple for Vinayagar  Chathurthi and distributed as Prasadam to devotees.

Mothagam is normally prepared in two methods, the first method being sweet inner covered with batter and steam cooked and the second method is a mixture of sweet and flour together made into shapes and steam cooked.
