Drumstick leaves are good for health. They are rich in iron. Regular intake of this leaf can develop blood level. It cleans the blood and removes the toxins of the body.  Drumstick leaf dishes are the best medicine for mother’s milk secretion. It is a good food for pregnant women. It can control the sugar level in the blood. It is a good diet for diabetic people too.
Murungai Keerai Poriyal (Drumstick Leaves Poriyal) Ingredients:
Murungai keerai - 1 bunch
Small onion         - 10
Green gram dal       - 3 tblsp
Coconut               - 3 tblsp
Red chilli               - 2
Urad dal              - ¼ tsp
Cumin seed        - ¼ tsp
Oil                - 2 tsp
Salt                 - to taste
Murungai Keerai Poriyal (Drumstick Leaves Poriyal) Method:
Discard the thick stem of the keerai and wash it well. Peel small onion and chop finely. Wash and soak the green gram dal for 15 minutes in little water.

 Heat oil in a frying pan add urad dal, cumin seed and broken red chilli. When they crackle add onion and sauté for a few minutes.

Then add drumstick leaves and sauté for few minutes. Sprinkle salt and soaked dal and stir. Keep on stirring with a ladle  and cook for five minutes.

Finally add coconut and serve hot with rice. It is go well with hot rice and ghee.

Note:
If you have time, you can discard the thin stalk also. I feel lazy to clean the keerai.
You can use half cooked tuvar dal also.
