Each and
every dish has a peculiar character unique to itself. Plain pulao is one dish
of that sort which has a good quality of
getting along with all types of side dish be it vegetarian or non vegetarian.
Plain pulao
can be made simply with just rice and spices or lots of dry fruits and nuts can
be included so that it has a rich pomp and nutritious value. Plain pulao can be
prepared in basmasti rice or just jeera samba which ever you have and you like
you can make it with.
The plain
pulao is one dish which find a place in star hotel buffets either lunch or
dinner. It goes well with vegetarian dishes such as shahi paneer or kadaipaneer or malay kofta or non vegetarian dishes such as chicken curry or chicken
chettinad.
Now let us
see how to make simple plain pulao easily.
Plain Pulao Ingredients:
Basmati rice - 1 cup
Tomato - 1
Onion - 1
Green chilli - 3
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Mint - ½ cup
Coconut milk - 2 cup
Cinnamon - 1 inch piece
Cardamom - 2
Clove - 2
Bay leaf - 1
Oil - 2 tblsp
Ghee - 1tblsp
Salt - to taste
Plain
Pulao Method:
Wash
and soak the rice for about 30 minutes. Chop tomato, onion and slit green
chilli lengthwise. Take one inch ginger piece and 3 flakes of garlic and crush
in to paste with little salt in the pestle and mortar.
Grind the coconut and take 2 cups of coconut milk. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cinnamon, cardamom, clove and bay leaf. Then add onion, green chilli, mint and tomato and saute for about 10 minutes. Then add rice, coconut milk and salt and mix well.
Close the lid and cook for one to two whistle, according to the rice’s nature. Open the cooker when the steam subsides and mix well and serve with cucumber or onionraitha or other Vegetarian or Non Vegetarian Side Dishes.
Grind the coconut and take 2 cups of coconut milk. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cinnamon, cardamom, clove and bay leaf. Then add onion, green chilli, mint and tomato and saute for about 10 minutes. Then add rice, coconut milk and salt and mix well.
Close the lid and cook for one to two whistle, according to the rice’s nature. Open the cooker when the steam subsides and mix well and serve with cucumber or onionraitha or other Vegetarian or Non Vegetarian Side Dishes.
Note:
You
can add water according to the rice.
